So often, our beliefs as faithful Christians do not line up with the shouted chants and disturbing actions taken by those claiming to represent a true vision of Christianity. Starting September 13, join us Sunday mornings at 11am in the Jean Moore Lounge for an eight-week class on Being Presbyterian in an Exvangelical America by Ted V. Foote Jr. and P. Alex Thornburg. Our Commissioned Ruling Elder, Shana Woodbury, will lead the discussion, which runs through November 22 (excluding monthly Sabbath Weekends). Ten copies of the book are available for use, and while they’re helpful, they’re not required.
- 09/13: The Bible is Authoritative, Not Literal
- 09/27: Faith and Salvation Are Gifts, Not Transactions
- 10/04: Discipleship Is a Lifelong Conversion, Not a Rulebook
- 10/18: Shaped for Community, Not for Individuality
- 10/25: The Future is Hopeful, Not Something to Fear
- 11/01: God’s Truth is Evolving, Not Stagnant
- 11/08: Presbyterians Are Reformed, and Always Reforming
- 11/22: Democracy (Not Authoritarianism) Is the Presbyterian Way/Grace is Our Way
New this fall: we’ll be hosting this class in a hybrid format, so if you worship online, you’re welcome to join us for the discussion via Zoom. Contact the church office for the Zoom link.
