What is worship like at Southminster?
Our worship is ordered by historical prayers and liturgies, and also freed by contemporary creeds and expressions. We sing hymns joyfully, pray fervently, and interact with one another playfully.
Our worship is traditional in all of the right ways. We are led in worship by an excellent chancel choir, handbell choir, and puppet team. We remain centered by traditional Presbyterian liturgy, grounded in scripture and in the Reformed Tradition. Our worship is also likely to include references to current events, contemporary music, and other ways to connect our faith to the living of our lives. Come to be challenged and equipped to serve God in the world.
What are Sabbath Weekends About?
Our worship services are generally held on Sunday mornings at 9:30am. However, one week per month, we take Sunday as a day of intentional sabbath rest, and worship at 5:00pm on Saturday night instead. These services tend to be more informal, more contemporary, and sometimes even a little “outside the box!”
Our Sabbath worship services are held in the sanctuary on the second Saturday of each month at 5:00pm.
Are children welcome in worship?
People of every age (wiggly children and sleep adults alike!) are warmly welcomed in worship here. Children are invited to come up front for a Children’s Message with the pastor around the middle of the service. Afterwards, some children head with a family member to a special children’s area filled with toys and activities, as well as a live TV feed for families who desire to worship in that space. Other children continue to remain in worship with their family for the rest of the service as well.

The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is the joyful feast of the people of God! All are welcome to celebrate Communion with us, on the first Sunday of each month, as well as our Sabbath Weekend service on the second Saturday of each month.
The Sacrament of Baptism reminds us that we belong to Jesus Christ. In baptism, we become one with Christ and members of Christ’s body, the church. With each baptism, we are invited to remember our own baptisms, giving thanks to God.
We would be honored to celebrate your wedding with a Christian service of worship. Our beautiful sanctuary provides a perfect setting.
At Southminster, funeral and memorial services take place in the sacred space of our sanctuary. Committal services generally take place at the graveside.
