Music & Arts

Making a joyful noise to the Lord!

Do you enjoy joining your voice with a vocal choir? Have you wondered what it would be like to ring handbells? Does the thought of spreading joy with a puppet bring a smile to your face? There are lots of opportunities to share your musical gifts at Southminster (not to mention, to experience fellowship with other members and friends of the congregation!)

New members are always welcome to join in the fun!

Chancel Choir

Our Chancel Choir is a vocal choir providing worship leader through choir anthems and other special worship music for Sunday worship services. The Chancel Choir typically rehearses on Wednesdays at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary. Contact Claudia Sutherland, Choir Director, for more info.

Handbell Choir

The Handbell Choir plays monthly during a Sunday worship service — typically the 3rd weekend of the month. The Handbell Choir practices on Wednesdays at 6:00pm in the Genesis Room. Contact Kiran Spees, Handbell Choir Director, for more info.

P4 Puppet Team

The P4 (Presbyterian Puppeteers Proclaiming Praise) Puppet Team is a truly intergenerational group providing a puppet proclamation about once per month. If you’re 6 or 86, there’s a place for you. The Puppet Team practices Sundays at 11:00am in the Genesis Room. Contact Drew Harenberg, Puppet Team Coordinator, for more info.

Special Music

If you have experience playing a musical instrument and would like to share your gifts by accompanying the choir or playing a solo during worship, please contact Claudia Sutherland, Susan Pohl, or Pastor TJ for more information!

Your contribution to the overall musical experience is important. We encourage you to attend rehearsals and worship services as often as possible. Each rehearsal builds on the last. We understand that you may miss rehearsals from time to time, and that’s ok! Don’t let that discourage you from being a part of one of our groups. Even if you are seasonal, we want your participation in Southminster’s ministry of Music & Arts.
