July 7, 2024 By TJ Remaley

At our gathering on June 5th, we installed our new PWS officers for the 2024-2025 year These new officers are:
* Moderator: Mary Poston, stepping down from the Vice-Moderator position.
* Vice-Moderator: Kristy Wymond
* Secretary: Phyllis Sanderson, stepping down from search committee
* Treasurer: Julie Estrera
* Mission: Helen Winkle, stepping down from the Moderator position
* Search: Carol Town, stepping down from Mission position.

This installation was presented and blessed by our own Reverend T.J. Remaley.

We also dedicated our Birthday offering, which is one of several of our missions we dedicate throughout the year.

We do not meet as a group in July or August, however we do have a couple of planning meetings scheduled during the summer. We hope that everyone will have a fun and safe summer. Stay tuned for further announcements regarding next year’s upcoming events.

Help Wanted for Boise Pride 2024

June 3, 2024 By TJ Remaley

Are you ready to share God’s inclusive love with our community? Boise Pride will be September 13-15, 2024. Southminster will again host a booth on Saturday and Sunday, and also hope for a large turnout for the parade on Sunday morning. Want to help with planning? Contact Pastor TJ.

NOTE: we hope to have a float this year! Do you have a truck and/or a trailer to drive our Puppet Team in the parade? Contact Pastor TJ.

Have you ever wanted to be on a float in a parade? Have you ever thought about joining the puppet team but you don’t really have the time for a long term commitment? Here’s your chance to fulfill both of those dreams! We need a few people to join the puppet team for a performance on a float in the Pride parade. Practices will be scattered throughout the summer and will work around the schedules of those preforming. No prior experience needed. Let Drew Harenberg or the office know if you are interested.

A Banned Book Conversation

April 2, 2024 By TJ Remaley

Don’t You Dare Read This! Get your attention? I know when I was a kid if I was forbidden or even encouraged to NOT do something—whatever it was—that really piqued my interest. I just had to see what was forbidden. You know, like snooping for Christmas presents or eating an olive off the guest buffet. And although I was never told I couldn’t read something… reading was considered a harmless activity in my home (and kept me entertained and not talking so much)… I do remember those days in junior high where we would gather in a friend’s attic and read the “juicy” parts of something someone had found in “True Confessions” and other lurid periodicals. Half the time we didn’t even understand what we were reading and giggling about it.

If you would like to know some of the history of banned books and discuss some of the current activity regarding the same, please plan to attend Sunday School for Adults on April 21.

Holy Humor Worship – 4/13 at 5:00pm

April 1, 2024 By TJ Remaley

Are you ready for some corny jokes that will make your eyes roll? By popular request, we will again worship in the style of “Holy Humor” for our April Sabbath service, Saturday April 13. Our Saturday Night Alive worship service will include upbeat music, lots of laughter, and joyful community — all in celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Plan to come dressed in your brightest colors and/or a silly costume. You’re encouraged to bring a joke or two in case you’re asked to make the congregation laugh.
