Exciting news! A brand new Sunday School experience for children ages 2-10 will launch on Sunday mornings beginning September 18 immediately following our worship services.

This pre-reader and early reader class is designed to activate faith using the “Spark Classroom” curriculum. Children will explore Bible stories from the Old and New Testaments using engaging resources and activities that inspire faith development.

Children will gather at 10:30am (or as soon as the worship service is over) for a 30 minute gathering while parents/guardians are enjoying coffee hour.

Book Club Resumes – Sept. 1

August 11, 2022 By TJ Remaley

The Southminster Book Club starts up again on September 1st.  This is a zoom meeting that is held at 7pm on the first Thursday of every month.  Anyone is WELCOME to join us – just contact the church office to be added to the Book Club mailing list.

Our selection for September is “Black, White, and the Grey” by Mashama Bailey and John O. Morisano. The story is about a Black chef from Queens and a White media entrepreneur who partner up, relocate to the South, and build a relationship and a restaurant (in a dilapidated Greyhound bus station) to get people talking about race, gender, class, and culture. In October we will be discussing “Searching for Sunday” by Rachel Held Evans. Hope you can join us!

Pastor TJ will be hosting a “Discover Southminster” gathering on Tuesday August 23 at 6:30pm in the narthex. Those who have been visiting Southminster or who are thinking about joining our membership will find this to be a great opportunity to explore our questions and callings together.

If you’d like to join our congregation as a member, an affiliate member, or even as a remote member (attending primarily online), this gathering will be especially informative for you!

To attend, please RSVP to Pastor TJ, or contact the church office.

Backpack Drive

July 28, 2022 By TJ Remaley

Since 2001, the Presbyterian Women of Southminster have held an annual backpack and supply drive for local elementary schools and the Boise/Ada County Housing Agencies. Through the years, the reach of this mission has grown from 50 backpacks to now over 500 backpacks annually!

Want to help?

Presbyterian Women will be gathering at the church on August 2 and 3 from 9:00am-12:00pm to organize, tag, fill, and prepare backpacks for distribution. You are welcome to join.

This year, with prices skyrocketing, expenses are expected to exceed the funds available from grants and Bazaar proceeds, so the team is also in need of additional financial support. Checks made payable to “PWS Backpack Program” can be submitted to the office, in the offering plate during worship, or given directly to PWS Treasurer Priscilla Oja.

Thank you again for supporting this important mission project!
