Borders & Belonging Book Study

December 28, 2025 By SPC

This winter, Southminster is joining with our ecumenical friends in Boise for a shared book study on Borders & Belonging: The Book of Ruth—A Story for Our Times by Pádraig Ó Tuama and Glenn Jordan. Together, we’ll explore the ancient story of Ruth as a lens for reflection on forced migration, faithfulness, and what it means to belong in a world shaped by borders.

The group will meet on Tuesday evenings from 7:00–8:30pm from January 13 – February 17 at Redeemer Lutheran Church (2920 W. Cassia Street, Boise). The clergy of the sponsoring congregations will take turns facilitating discussion. Books are encouraged, and all are welcome—whether you come with deep familiarity with Scripture or simply a desire for thoughtful conversation across traditions.

Christmas Eve Worship – Dec. 24 7pm

December 2, 2025 By SPC

Come celebrate Christmas Eve with us as we gather for carols, candlelight, and the hopeful story of Christ’s birth. Whether you’re a longtime churchgoer, returning after some time away, or simply curious, you are warmly invited to come as you are. Bring your questions, your hopes, and your loved ones as we make room for wonder together.

Worship begins at 7:00pm on Christmas Eve. Our church nursery will be staffed and available to receive children (birth through kindergarten) but all ages are warmly welcomed in worship at Southminster (really!).

Longest Night Worship – Dec 21 7pm

December 2, 2025 By SPC

For many of us, Christmas can be a bittersweet time of year, where joy and gratitude mixes with grief and loss. On this Winter Solstice—the night of longest darkness in our hemisphere—we’ll gather with some of our ecumenical friends on the Boise Bench for a quiet meditative worship service that makes time for remembering, sharing our hurting places with God, and preparing our hearts for the coming of Christ.

This service will be at Whitney United Methodist Church (3315 W Overland Rd), with participation from All Saints Episcopal, Immanuel Lutheran, Redeemer Lutheran, Red Rock Christian Church, Whitney UMC, and Southminster.
