Conversations That Matter

September 4, 2023 By SPC

Discussion about many of our world’s most complicated topics often struggle to move beyond the soundbites of the 24-hour news cycle. This year, our Adult Education hopes to deepen our understanding of social issues, and most importantly, to learn how to engage these topics as people of faith.

This study will meet on Sunday mornings after worship and fellowship (note: we do not meet on Sabbath weekends). While our conversations may build upon one another, those who can’t come weekly are still encouraged to come when they can!

Planned Schedule of Topics:

  • Sept. 24 – Gun Violence
  • Oct. 1 – Gun Violence
  • Oct. 8 – Gun Violence
  • Oct. 22 – Gun Violence
  • Oct. 29 – Gun Violence
  • Nov. 5 – Environmental Racism
  • Nov. 19 – Income Inequality
  • Nov. 26 – NO Adult Ed Class
  • Dec. 3 – Climate Change
  • Dec. 17 – Climate Change
  • Dec 24 – Jan 7 NO Adult Ed Classes

Mission Without Walls

October 31, 2022 By SPC

Our services in November will include a Moment for Stewardship. Our message through the stewardship campaign will be Mission Without Walls. We’ll talk about Southminster’s tradition of service throughout the community and also our service to each other, both on our campus and off campus.

Stewardship can be a difficult topic to discuss, but it’s a crucial element for all churches. The financial aspect of paying salaries, keeping the lights on and heating the building are extremely important. Without these necessities, our mission would surely be hampered! As you listen to our stewardship stories, consider the importance of Southminster in your life and how your financial support can further the mission and ministry of Southminster.

As your Session builds the 2023 financial budget and discerns mission priorities for the next twelve months, it’s important to have a good estimate of income. Please fill out a pledge card and return to the office. Pledge cards are available in the Narthex/lobby at the church and can be mailed to you if needed. You can also find a PDF copy of the pledge card below, to print from home.

We’re growing at Southminster – let’s keep the momentum.
