PWS Thoughts for April

March 31, 2023 By TJ Remaley

Spring is coming and our awareness of the life that God has given us is awakened and made resonate within us
at Easter. May this time of year make us aware of our purpose and joy in being children of God.

Another joy this month is our having Rev. TJ as the Gathering’s speaker. We will welcome his insight and words to us. April is also the month at Gathering that we dedicate the Least Coin. Our coins, a symbol of our prayers, join many others’ coins from all parts of the world to support projects that help women and children achieve a better life.

The Gathering in May will be fun because we will take a field trip to the Basque Museum and have lunch in the area.

Be kind and keep joy in your heart.

The Dedication of Cents-ability (2 cents for Hunger) will be collected. The rotation of preparation is the following: SET UP — Naomi, FOOD — Ruth and Rachel, CLEAN UP — Mary/Martha.

In March Sean Rogers will be our guest speaker. We all enjoy being together and sharing, so come, be a part of God’s love for us. Be kind. Call someone. Have a great month. Happy Valentines Day!

PWS Thoughts for December

December 1, 2022 By TJ Remaley

The PWS (Presbyterian Women of Southminster) will once again be able to join together to enjoy sending cards to our staff and also preparing cookies for the staff at Grace Jordan. Perhaps a few cookies might make it to the mouths of our staff also. The card party and the preparation of cookies will take place before the December Gathering at 10:00am.

The Guest speaker at the Gathering will be our own dear Megan Remaley. We will be able to become more acquainted with her and what her job entails.

Remember on December 7 to come at 10:00 if you want to work on cards and arrange cookie plates or come at 11:00 for the business meeting.

Happy December to all of you.

PWS Thoughts for November

October 31, 2022 By TJ Remaley

We are close to Thanksgiving and we have so much to be thankful for. One Thankful matter is that October is over. But what a final two weeks of October they were. A great Bazaar organized by Carolyn W., Sara N., and Darleen B. Thank you ladies for the months of preparation and planning. And a big thanks to all of the ladies and gents who used their talents to make handmade items and a tip of the hat to the helpers who worked days to make the Bazaar Great.

On October 29 Southminster PWS hosted the Boise Presbyterian Gathering of ladies from 10 area churches, having our own Deanna Watson as speaker, Marianne Paul who led the worship, and Evelyn Cates who played the piano for us.

November Gathering is on the 2nd. We will meet at 11:00am for the Business Meeting, have lunch and then the program. We are excited to have Tina Polishchuk as the speaker. She is the Executive Director of the Idaho Alliance for Ukrainian Refugees and Immigrants, located in the Lighthouse Rescue Mission building in Nampa. She is hoping to bring 1-2 refugees with her as well. We hope you will invite others who might be interested. Men are welcome to come also.

Happy Thanksgiving and keep smiling.

PW Synod Gathering – Nov 12

October 15, 2022 By TJ Remaley

A free event for all Presbyterian Women groups in the Synod of the Pacific: How to talk about that elephant in the room (climate change, reproductive justice, immigrants, gun violence, domestic violence, suicide, racial violence—to name a few!) and featuring Music, Youth Voice, and Meeting Presbyterian Women from 5 States!!

We welcome Rev. Deanna Hollas as our speaker. As coordinator of the prevention of gun violence work with the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship, she has spent much of her time having challenging conversations and believes you don’t need a trained facilitator or mediator to have a courageous conversation. With the right tools anyone can have courageous conversations. Rev. Hollas will share these tools with us so you can feel empowered to enter into the difficult, but necessary, conversations we need to be having in your church or home on a wide variety of topics.

PW Synod Autumn Gathering, via Zoom November 12 10:00am-1:00pm

Registration: Send your name, church, Presbytery and email to PWgathering@gmail.com.
