Grief Support Group – Begins Sept 8

July 29, 2025 By SPC

Grief can feel isolating, but you are not alone. This fall, members Roger Hiles and Cheryle Andrews will lead a small group for those navigating loss. The group begins Monday, September 8 at 11:30am and will meet in Room #5 (upstairs).

Participants will use a guided book and journal—$26 total, with scholarships available if needed. The group is limited to 12 participants; contact the church office to sign up.

This is a gentle and supportive space for processing grief with others who understand.

“How Not to Be Afraid” – Book Study Part 2

July 29, 2025 By SPC

Even if you missed the first session in June, there’s still time to join our gentle, reflective book discussion based on How Not to Be Afraid by Gareth Higgins. Pastor TJ is leading this two part series as bookends to a summer of independent “soulwork.”

Our final session is coming up soon: Wednesday, August 13 at 1:00pm in the Jean Moore Lounge on the upper level. Join us in person or on Zoom at link.spcboise.org/study

Between gatherings, participants are invited to engage with a companion handout of weekly reflections inspired by the book’s themes. A few extra copies of the handout are available in the narthex. This conversation is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and courage for uncertain times. Reach out to Pastor TJ if you’d like help getting a copy of the book or want to learn more.

Just One Thing – A New Discussion Group

May 22, 2025 By SPC

Are you feeling helpless about the state of the world? Do you find yourself paralyzed when you watch the news? If this is you, come and join Just One Thing, a group sponsored by our Peace, Justice, and Outreach Committee.

We will talk about our concerns, but we will not stop there. We also want to notice glimpses of grace and focus on that “just one thing” we can do to help, whether that is pray, write letters, or find a way to ground ourselves in our own community and church.

Meetings will vary according to interest, and everyone is welcome when they can attend. Starting on May 4, we will meet on the first Sunday of each month at 5:00pm in the Jean Moore Lounge. Contact Abby Wolford for more information.

What: Just One Thing, a new discussion group
When: First Sundays at 5:00pm (beginning May 4)
Where: Jean Moore Lounge, upper level of Southminster
