Fall Potluck – Sept 22

September 3, 2024 By SPC

With the weather starting to cool down and school starting back up it seems like a wonderful time to gather in fellowship. The Connections Committee would like to invite everyone to participate in our Fall Potluck in the Grove on Sunday September 22nd, following the worship service. Sign-up sheets will be posted in the Narthex for what you would like to bring. Please join us and dazzle us with your cooking expertise. Should the weather not cooperate we will move the potluck inside, otherwise we have the tables in the Grove or you can bring your own if you would like. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to anyone on the Connections Committee including; Carla Middleton, Carol Towne, Juno Von Ocker, or Kathryn Nicholas.

PWS Thoughts – September 2024

September 2, 2024 By SPC

I hope that everyone had a pleasant summer and was able to beat the heat and smoke.

We have a variety of events coming up in September. On Sunday, September 1, we will have some representatives from the Churchwide Presbyterian Women’s Conference (held last month in St Louis) speak on their experiences. We will also be commissioning our PWS Coordinating Team officers.

Our first gathering of the year will be September 4 at 11am. Please join us for lunch and a program by Jackie Benjamin introducing this year’s bible study, “Let Justice Roll Down: God’s call to care for neighbors and all creation.” You do not need to be a member of a circle to attend. This is for all women of our Southminster congregation. We look forward to meeting you. Check the pew racks for further information.

The PW of the Presbytery of Boise’s Fall Gathering will be held on September 28. I hope to have a good number of our PWS members at- tend and represent Southminster.

Stay tuned for information about our annual Fall Bazaar in October. Think of us when cleaning out your closets and garages. We will need gently used items, jewelry, baked goods, etc. The dates and times will be announced soon.

Pride Worship – Sept 14 at 5:00pm

September 2, 2024 By SPC

This month, our Sabbath weekend falls on the same weekend as Boise Pride. To celebrate with our LGBTQIA+ members and friends, our Sabbath Worship service for September will proclaim inclusive love for the world as we celebrate our diversity together.

Join us in the sanctuary at 5:00pm on Saturday evening for an uplifting PRIDE worship. Bonus: since we’ll have no worship on Sunday morning, it’s even easier to join our congregation’s group in the Pride Parade!

Come. Worship. Be Loved.

Volunteer at our Boise Pride Booth!

September 2, 2024 By SPC

It’s that time of year! Members and friends of Southminster are invited to join in the celebration as we show God’s love to all in our community.

Who: All of us!
What: We will have a booth at the Pride festival, and we will have a float in the parade this year featuring our puppet team. Sign up to staff the booth, and please come march or ride in the parade!
When: September 14 and 15. We will set up starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14. The booth will be open all day on the 14th and on the 15th until 5 p.m. or so. The parade will be on Sunday, September 15 at 9:00am. Remember: since the 14th is a Sabbath worship service, you can march or ride in the parade with Southminster during regular church time on Sunday morning. 🙂
Where: Cecil Andrus Park, downtown Boise
Why: Because we love God and love people, and we want to show God’s love to all in our community

Food Items: Jelly, Flour, Sugar, Baking Soda, Baking Powder

Non-Food Items: Laundry Soap, Dish Soap, Stain Remover, Toilet Paper, Combs/Brushes, Hair Ties, Dryer Sheets, Shampoo, Conditioner, Deodorant
